Sr. Mary Beata was born and raised in South Korea.  She is the youngest of 6 children.  All of her sisters are married and her brother has been serving the people of South Korea as a priest for 34 years.  After graduating from college, she met a Korean Sister and through her Sr. Mary Beata became interested in her Community, Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate in the United States.  She came to visit the Community in 1990 and entered in 1991.  Her parents, who have since entered into their eternal home, were both very supportive of her vocation.  She made her first vows in 1994 and final vows in 2000.  She has been engaged in the apostolate of door-to-door visitation and catechetical ministry in New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.  She also spent several months working in Nigeria and one year in the Philippines.  While she was in the Philippines, she not only engaged in door-to-door visitation but also trained the seminarians in that apostolate while teaching religion classes in 2 public schools in Quezon City, Manila.  Returning to the United States she finished her masters’ program in religious studies at St. Joseph’s Seminary in the Archdiocese of New York and then was sent to Arizona where she served for 6 years as a DRE and 2 years as a youth minister.  In 2018 she was transferred to the motherhouse in Monroe, NY to serve as a formation director.  She is currently serving as the Director of postulants and novices.  From her childhood she has always interested in religion and has desired to grow in an intimate relationship with God.  She hopes and prays that she maybe an instrument in guiding other souls to a deeper knowledge of God’s unconditional love for them and to hear God’s whispering sound (1 Kings 19:11-13) in their unique walk in their lives.
